So I was stuck in the airport for four hours and a television show came on entitled “Dance Wars.” I didn’t fully catch the premise, but I think it was something to the effect of an “American Idol” except for dancing and simultaneous singing. I was shocked when I heard over my shoulder that they were going to do “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” What the hell do a bunch of street dancers, who have more in common with an electric boogaloo than an electric slide guitar, know about country music? How could they bastardize it? I’m sure they know plenty about Chuck D, but don’t know squat about Charlie Daniels. Their rendition was not only disrespectful, but trite and cheap. If I ever watched anything other than good sports, QVC’s knife show or Cops, I would vow to never watch ABC 7 again. On a side note, my reinstatement letters to change Spike back to The Nashville Network have all but been ignored.
What the hell is happening to this country?
