Is It A Stinking World?

In a very important film (in my life and in the film world in general) from 1971 entitled “A Clockwork Orange,” an old derelict boo hoos these lines:

It’s a stinking world because there’s no law and order anymore. It’s a stinking world because it lets the young get onto the old, like you done. Oh…it’s no world for an old man any longer. What sort of a world is it at all? Men on the moon, and men spinning around the earth, and there’s not no attention paid to earthly law and order no more.

Honto ni kuso jiji? Is there really a lack of law and order? Maybe there are just too many people to truly keep under control, full control. Although I think the guv does a bloody good job at keeping the masses sitting erect begging for the biscuit.

Beg for the biscuit. Tongues out laddies, time for a treat. Knives out laddies, time for defeat.

The world isn’t lacking law and order. We have enough of that. The world is lacking passion. What I’m talking about, what I’ve been thinking about is almost indescribable. Passion for life, passion for heat, passion for life force. The feeling one gets when feeling someone else’s heartbeat and really knowing that rhythm. The feeling that makes young people carve their names or initials into trees or ceramic toilet seats bordered with hearts formed from sharp angular lines. The feeling felt when looking into someone’s eyes and seeing deep, real deep, and what you find moves you. The feeling one gets where it’s nearly impossible to NOT leave teeth marks on their necks.

“Now, I left my teeth marks all over your neck.
It’s a habit I can’t seem to break.”
